Collections

Focus: national. Consists of: architectural drawings, both individual drawings and complete archives; documents/correspondence; vintage photographs; paintings; films; sound recordings; ephemera. Strengths: Full range of Canadian cartographic and architectural records, both historical and contemporary, plans and drawings dealing with military campaigns, exploration, settlement, defense, and fortification, including documents which date to the sixteenth century although the nineteenth and twentieth century are represented best. Collection accessible on microfiche and through inventories and guides. Drawings cannot be reproduced, but the institution provides black and white photographs and slides, color photographs and slides, 105mm diazos, photostats, and reader-printer copies. Institution has a conservation laboratory.
