Collections

Focus: national, international, local. Consists of: architectural drawings, both individual drawings and complete archives; models, building fragments. Documents/correspondence, photographs, slides and ephemera are in the Burnham Library of the Art Institute. Strengths: Adler & Sullivan, S. S. Beman, Daniel Burnham & John Root, Walter Burley Griffin, Marion Mahony Griffin, Stanley Tigerman, Bruce Goff. Accessible through inventories. Some drawings can be reproduced. Institution has a conservation laboratory, but sends its objects to outside conservators.

Library Holdings

Holdings: library's holdings are international in scope, with more than 200,000 book titles and dozens of current art, architecture, and design periodicals and journals. The library's collection is computerized. The library is not part of the architecture department, but is itself a department of the AIC.

Exhibitions

Organizes exhibitions. Permanent exhibition: "Fragments of Chicago's Past." Exhibitions travel.
